I have found that using a digital piano’s midi output to the O1/W really helps with expanding the key range to 88, and having weighted actions..It’s Awesome. I recently fixed, and worked with a Technics PIANO. It was great. Wish I had the money, and the space to keep it….I would strongly recommend a digital piano with STAND for this type of setup..

After 17 years, the display has disappeared, along with all sounds. I presume the battery needs changing - which is brilliant after all this time!!
I've bought a new Sony mercury battery (plus a smaller battry for my back-up RAM, just incase I need it). There are no instructions in the manual about how to change the bettery and reset the factory presets. THe battery sits in a grey plastic circular holder set onto the circuit board. Do I just pull it off to replace the battery within it, or is there another way. Please help--I am desperate to use my 01R/W again. It had such amazing sounds. They were definitely an upgrade on my M1 and helped me to create some big 80's sounds.
The accordian sound was great treble -racked and detuned for the Intro to Phil Collins' big song at the time---'We wait and we Wonder'. Please can you guide me through replacing the battery safely. Thanks.

Scott: Sorry for taking so long to reply... if you are still looking for an answer, yes, there is a way to reset the synth back to factory presets. If you have additional questions, please post your question to the Yahoo! Group.

The instructions to reset to factory presets are in this message: http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/korg01w-list/message/6074

Excerpt:How to Re-Load All Combi/Prog/Kit Factory Settings

The steps below will re-install the factory settings. Note you can
re-load these settings at any time without re-initializing the entire

Getting the low battery sign on my 01R/W after at least 43 14 years and wondered how to go about getting a new
battery with the assumption that I can do it myself.

Also wondered if anyone knows if all the factory presets
will still be on the machine when I put a new batter in.

And if now, where would I get the presets? Korg?

Thanks in advance for your advise.
